XXL wedding cakes; the new trend
Today we talk about the latest trend in wedding cakes; the cakes in giant size.
Will we still see multi-tiered wedding cakes? Yes.
Will we still have individual desserts at weddings? Yes.
Will more classic desserts continue? Yes, that too.
However, the novelty of XXL cakes appears as a wedding dessert in Europe, dethroning the most common dessert until now: the individual dessert served to each guest at the table.
Although you can also find them as traditional Italian cakes or Italian wedding cakes.

We start by looking at large round puff pastry cakes or cakes made with sponge cakes of various flavors, topped with icing sugar, meringue, cream or chocolate.
It is also common for these to have a layer of fresh fruit on top; berries or strawberries are usually the most common. Likewise, there have been creations with other fruits, such as those more typical of summer, for example peaches or grapes.
Another ingredient that is usually not missing, is icing sugar. The cake may already be presented with it, or the couple may finish the dessert in front of the guests, as you can see in some of the pictures.
The bride and groom finish the cake live by adding the icing sugar in front of the guests! A real spectacle and a unique experience.
The most common shape is round, but it is a cake that can also be prepared in other formats such as rectangular or heart-shaped.
This trend for 2025 wedding cakes, has Italian origins, as the name suggests; traditional Italian wedding cakes.
It started with what is known as a mille-feuille base.
So, they are now prepared with all kinds of bases, but the “classic” of the new ones is a giant mille feuille, which is prepared with crispy puff pastry. Filled with cream, with red fruits on top and with a final layer of powdered sugar.
This would be the traditional Italian wedding cake.

Continuing with XXL cakes, there is another style that is very trendy for weddings in 2025. The shapes that the cakes follow are rectangular, very long and they also add various decorations.
Different textures, flowers and fruits.

In this case, the white frosting is usually the most popular.
Then, depending on the occasion, they play with more textures, more colors or with the thickness of the cake itself. In the end, it all depends on what each couple wants for their wedding cake.
This is the trendiest wedding cake of 2025: XXL, simple, casual, with little decoration and one or two floors.
